Pixel-based or Vector-based illustration?
Pixel-based (PNG/JPG)
Made of tiny squares: Pixel-based images are created with a grid of tiny colored squares called pixels. Each pixel has a specific color, and together, they form the image.
Detail depends on resolution: The more pixels there are, the more detail the image has. For example, a high-resolution image has more pixels, so it's sharper.
Doesn't scale well: When you zoom in or enlarge a pixel-based image, the pixels become visible, making the image look blurry or blocky.
Common formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP.
Vector (SVG, EPS)
Made of points, lines, and shapes: Vector images are created using mathematical equations to define shapes, like circles, lines, and curves. These shapes are filled with color or gradients.
Scales perfectly: Because vector images are based on math, you can enlarge or shrink them to any size without losing quality. They always stay sharp and clean.
Lightweight files: Vector files are usually smaller because they don't store thousands of pixels—just the mathematical instructions to draw the image.
Common formats: SVG, AI, EPS, PDF.
Best for: Logos, icons, and illustrations that need to be resized often or kept simple and sharp.
